As someone that has struggled with anxiety/panic most of my life, I decided to be open to trying something different. I've seen psychologists on and off for years, which definitely has its place but I just felt I needed something else. I worked with Claire over four online sessions on the claustrophobia I've had with trains and tunnels. Last weekend I caught a train from the suburbs into the city, and then through the city circle tunnels. I honestly hadn't done that in years! I almost couldn't believe I was doing it, and only with very low-level anxiety as opposed to full-blown panic.

Sessions will consist of a mix of strategic psycho-education, personalised clinical hypnosis (20mins) and NLP techniques and tools.
Ongoing Sessions
Sessions will be 1hr every week or fortnight. Depending on your commitment to making change, most issues require at least 4 sessions.
In Between Sessions
Your week or fortnight between sessions you will be required to listen to the hypnosis recording and complete tasks. Repetition is key to making change.
Live Your Best Life

I'm Claire Addis, an accredited Strategic Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist based in Waverley, Sydney.
Originally from Ireland, I've been living in Sydney since 2005. I'm a mum, an everyday person who's faced my own challenges, and someone who genuinely loves this work.

My Approach
I combine the most effective elements of hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, CBT, NLP, ACT, EFT tapping and Eye Movement Integration to help with anxiety, presentation anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, phobias, low self-esteem, trauma, habits and stress. Together we focus on practical change, working in the present and building tools you can use in everyday life.
This approach is solution and goal oriented, aiming for meaningful results in as few sessions as possible.
My Training: I trained at the Institute of Applied Psychology (IAP) under Gordon Young, specialising in Strategic Psychotherapy and Modern Ericksonian Clinical Hypnosis. This training focuses on evidence-based, process-oriented methods that create lasting change efficiently and effectively.

Common Questions About Hypnotherapy
How is hypnotherapy different from counselling or seeing a psychologist?
It's faster (4-6 sessions vs months or years), more directive (we actively work towards solutions together), and accesses your unconscious mind where 90% of your mental processes happen. Instead of just talking about your problems, we rewire the patterns causing them.
Does online hypnotherapy work as well as in-person?
Yes! Many clients find online sessions even more comfortable. As long as you have a quiet space and can see me on video, it's just as effective as in-person sessions. You're in your own familiar environment, which can actually help you relax more.
How quickly will I see results?
Most clients notice significant improvement within 4-6 sessions. Some feel relief after just one session. Phobias and specific fears often resolve even faster, sometimes in 2-3 sessions.
Will I lose control or do embarrassing things?
No. You're fully aware and in control the entire time. Clinical hypnosis is therapy, not stage entertainment. You can open your eyes and move around whenever you want. No one can make you do anything you don't want to do.
